Hey, everyone! Let’s make a bunch of resolutions that we won’t keep this year like taking that trip to Bali, exercising every single day, and blah blah blah. Or, you could try these five easy resolutions that you have a much higher likeliness of keeping. Plus, they’re all about you… looking better, feeling better, and improving yourself.
SPICE IT UP: Use spices in your food rather than marinades. It decreases the amount of fat and excess crap your body is taking in with your meal. Plus, many spices contribute to weight loss, boost your metabolism, and help with digestion. Cayenne pepper, cumin, black pepper, garlic, cinnamon, ginger, mustard seed, paprika, and turmeric are great for these body benefits.
GET WET: Drink more water. I personally am not a big fan. However, let’s say you have 4 glasses of iced tea, 1 can of soda, and a glass of grapefruit juice. Maybe eliminate the can of soda for a bottle of water. Things that help me are keeping the water ice cold (personal preference). You can also buy the mini bottles of water, which go down much quicker. Another great thing is gatorade. Gatorade is actually one of the only other beverages that has the same hydration effects as water, especially when it comes to your heart. So, gatorade is also a great substitute.
DON’T DIET: Just eat a little less. Eat about 10-20% less or even 30% if you think you’ve been over-doing it lately. It’s all about just a little portion control. You don’t need to cut out anything or cry because you can’t eat what you want. It’ll be more gradual, but you’ll definitely notice a difference and you’ll feel better.
GET STEAMY: You can eat healthier without depriving yourself. Steam those veggies. Steaming helps to retain those nutrients you need. Now, for those of us on the lazier side, just buy the frozen bags of veggies that say steamable. Pop them in the microwave and you’re set. While you’re at it, you should try grilling more. Grilling is a healthier way to go too. Like I said, don’t limit yourself. Just tweak a little.
SLEEP AROUND: Whether you’re on your break at the office or just watching TV on the couch, take a little rest. The more sleep we get, the better we feel, the healthier our skin looks, and the longer we live. Cut down on your facebook stalking, your late-night tweeting, and learn to use your DVR. Your favorite shows can wait. You’ll notice that with even a half hour or hour more of sleep, you’ll have a clearer head and you’ll feel better all around.
